Hindustan Zinc and GreenLine Launch Major Green Logistics Initiative

In a significant move towards greener industry, Hindustan Zinc Ltd, India’s only and the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has partnered with GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd, the country’s leading green logistics operator, to launch one of India’s largest green logistics transitions. The initiative will introduce electric (EV) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) trucks to help the company achieve 100 percent decarbonization of its supply chain.
As part of the plan, GreenLine will invest INR 400 crore to bring in 100 electric trucks for transporting concentrate between mines and smelters. It will also set up India’s first commercial-scale battery swapping infrastructure, with three high-capacity stations designed for 24/7 operations. Additionally, Hindustan Zinc’s LNG truck fleet will be expanded to 200 vehicles for long-haul transport of finished goods.
“At Hindustan Zinc, we are unwavering in our commitment to pioneering sustainable practices and believe the future of manufacturing is green,” said Arun Misra, Chief Executive Officer, Hindustan Zinc Ltd. “This large-scale deployment of EVs and LNG trucks, a bold step in our journey to net zero, solidifies our dedication to driving meaningful impact through innovative green logistics solutions and strategic partnerships, shaping a cleaner, more sustainable supply chain.”
The project is forecasted to reduce monthly carbon dioxide emissions by around 236 metric tonnes—equivalent to planting around 12,000 trees—and about 150,000 tonnes of Scope 3 emissions annually. “Clean transport isn’t a future option, it’s today’s responsibility,” said Anand Mimani, Chief Executive Officer, GreenLine Mobility Solutions Ltd.
“This deployment with Hindustan Zinc powerfully reflects our shared urgency to decarbonize logistics at scale, setting a scalable model for industrial decarbonization across sectors. With our LNG and EV fleet, manufactured by Blue Energy Motors, we’re bringing together innovation, sustainability, and real-world impact in a way that’s practical and powerful for industry,” Mimani added.
