DPIIT and Hafele India Sign MoU to Boost Manufacturing and Innovation

As a step toward strengthening India’s manufacturing and innovation landscape, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Hafele India Pvt Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership focuses on empowering startups, MSMEs, and entrepreneurs through investment, mentorship, and integration into global supply chains.

The MoU was signed by Dr Sumeet Kumar Jarangal, Director, DPIIT, and Frank Schloeder, Managing Director – South Asia, Hafele, in the presence of senior officials from both sides. The agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing, with the possibility of extension upon mutual agreement.

As per the collaboration, Hafele India will encourage initiatives supporting product innovation and local sourcing, offering startups and MSMEs access to markets, infrastructure, and technical collaboration. DPIIT will assist in linking startups with the ecosystem through Startup India programs to encourage co-branding and active participation.

The company has already invested over US$ 2.5 million in an Indian appliance manufacturing startup and placed purchase orders with Indian MSME manufacturers of architectural hardware and furniture fittings.

Jarangal highlighted, “Through investments, mentorship, and ecosystem partnerships, we aim to empower startups that are building the next generation of globally competitive manufacturing capabilities.”

Sanjiv Singh, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, noted, “It brings together global best practices and local entrepreneurial energy to drive sustainable manufacturing growth aligned with the Make in India vision.”

Schloeder stated, “Through this MoU, we are excited to deepen our engagement with Indian entrepreneurs and startups and work together toward the vision of ‘India for India’ today and ‘India for the World’ tomorrow.”
