About Hyderabad

  • Statue of Equality

The Statue of Equality in Hyderabad is a 216-foot-tall golden statue of the 11th century Bhakti Saint Sri Ramanujacharya (Ramanuja) and is one of the world's tallest metallic statues in sitting position, only second to Thailand's Great Buddha statue. It is situated on the 45-acre beautiful Jeeyar Integrated Vedic Academy (JIVA) campus at Muchintal Road, Palmakol, near Shamshabad on the city's outskirts. It radiates the persona of Sri Ramanujacharya, an icon of equality who was the torchbearer of Vaishnavism and a forerunner of the Bhakti movement. The Statue of Equality is open Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 8 PM and on weekends from 11 AM to 8 PM. Except for Wednesdays, it is open every day. Battery-operated vehicles are available at the complex.

  • Ramappa Temple

The iconic temple, located in Palampet Village on the bank of Ramappa Lake in Mulugu District, is now India’s 39th World Heritage Site. It was named after its architect Ramappa, making it the only temple in India to do so. Ramappa Temple stands regally on a 6-foot (1.8-meter) high star-shaped platform, with the Garbhagriha, Antarala, and Maha Mandapa on three sides, with lateral porched entrances. The sculptures, particularly those at the Temple, are excellent artistic representations of Kakatiya dance customs and cultural traditions. The temple is open every day from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. The road to this location is good, making it an easy destination to reach by car. Warangal, about 70 km away, is the closest city to the temple. The temple is about 15 km from Mulugu and about 210 km from Hyderabad.

Shilparamam is the perfect place for nature lovers who want to be surrounded by fresh air, the sound of a waterfall, and lush green grass. The venue is open from 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with a minimum entry fee of INR 60 for adults and INR 20 for children. Shilparamam has numerous appealing features. The amphitheater has a seating capacity of 1,500 people and occasionally holds great shows.

  • Charminar

Located in the Old City on the east bank of the Musi River, the Charminar is the most famous historical landmark in Hyderabad. The monument’s four fluted minarets built into the main structure have become a synonym for the city, much like ‘Eiffel Tower’ and ‘Big Ben’ are for Paris and London, respectively. The English name is a translation and combination of the Urdu words chār and minar or meenar, meaning ‘Four Pillars’; the eponymous towers are ornate minarets connected and supported by four massive arches. It is listed as an archaeological and architectural treasure on the official ‘List of Monuments’ compiled by the Archaeological Survey of India. It has been added to the ‘tentative list’ of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in its current state.

  • Golconda Fort

Golconda Fort has an impressive place among the architectural marvels and heritage structures of India. Developed by the Nizams, it has been the pride of Hyderabad for centuries. It is situated about 9 km from the Hussain Sagar Lake. The fort is famous for its impenetrable structure and easily accessible for all tourists. It is considered a hallmark of excellence in military architecture. Golconda Fort is one of the grandest forts in India, built in 13th century by Kakatiyas. There are multiple buildings within the fort. This fort has been built on a granite rock with a height of 12 meters. Visiting the fort in the evening time is better as one can also catch up with the light and sound show. The entry fee for Indians is INR 20 and INR 200 for foreigners.

  • Salar Jung Museum

Situated on the southern banks of Musi River, the Salar Jung Museum has a unique distinction as the third largest museum in India and has a worldwide fame for its biggest one-man collections of antiques. The Salar Jung family is responsible for its collection of rare art objects from all over the world. The family is one of the most illustrious families in Deccan history, five of them having been prime-ministers in the erstwhile Nizam rule of Hyderabad-Deccan. It is an art museum with a collection of sculptures, paintings, carvings, textiles, manuscripts, ceramics, metallic artefacts, carpets, clocks, and furniture from Japan, China, Burma, Nepal, India, Persia, Egypt, Europe, and North America.
