World’s Largest Airport Terminal Underway in Dubai

A project estimated at US$ 35 billion is in progress as Dubai announced its plan to construct the world’s largest airport terminal. This endeavor is expected to boast an infrastructure featuring 400 gates and five parallel runways, setting a new standard in aviation infrastructure. With a capacity to handle a staggering 260 million passengers annually, the terminal is poised to redefine the country’s status as a global aviation hub.

The Al Maktoum International Airport’s capacity is expected to be five times larger than Dubai International Airport.  Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates, expressed immense support for the project’s commencement. He highlighted the strategic importance of this development, emphasizing its substantial role in accommodating the city’s growing air traffic and meeting the demands of a rapidly expanding aviation sector.

This project aligns with broader urban development initiatives in Dubai South, catering to the burgeoning demand for housing and fostering growth in the logistics and air transport sectors. Scheduled for completion within a decade, this landmark venture underscores the country’s ambition to be a leading global center for trade, travel, and innovation.
